This mary holding dead jesus sculpture, also known as the Piet à, is a highly famous religious sculpture in Western art history, depicting the sorrowful scene of the Virgin Mary embracing the deceased Jesus Christ. The sculpture embodies the core doctrine of Christianity – redemption. Jesus suffered and sacrificed for the sins of humanity, and the Virgin Mary represents humanity’s gratitude and admiration for Jesus.
The original sculpture of the Madonna and Child was created by the famous Italian Renaissance artist Michelangelo Buonarroti between 1498 and 1499. This work was initially commissioned for use in the cemetery chapel of St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome, as a tombstone sculpture for French Cardinal Jean de Bichells.
(1) Craft Inheritance: We are committed to inheriting Michelangelo’s artistic spirit, using traditional hand carving techniques, and striving to restore the charm of the original sculpture.
(2) Rigorous selection of materials: We use high-quality stone to ensure the texture and color of the sculpture, making the work highly artistic and ornamental
(3) Size customization: We can provide different sizes of the sculpture of the Virgin Mary embracing the dead Jesus according to customer needs, to meet the placement requirements of different spaces and scenes.
